Having worked in Warrington in the late 70s, I moved to Warrington in 1987. I used to run a lot, but now find walking works better. After a career in the Nuclear Fuel industry, the Manchester Universities and the Natural Environment Research Council I retired in 2017, so now have more time to work with our Committee to support Warrington HF Ramblers and all its members.
I have enjoyed walking with the Club for over 20 years, making many friends and seeing lots of different parts of our lovely countryside.
I have also been lucky enough to walk in Spain and italy with club holidays.
I am easy to spot on walks with our Border Terrier, Luna, not to mention my husband Dennis, who I met through the club!
Education plus playing and watching many different sports dominated my early life. Considering the impact of accidental loads (such as fire and smoke, explosions, earthquakes, and extreme wind) on the safety of people and the integrity of structures filled a large part of my working life. Not surprisingly, badminton and walking has been a long-standing means of de-stressing. I joined the club a few years before retirement and found it to be a friendly and inclusive group.
Joining HF Ramblers in 2011, I had little previous walking experience but with the support of seasoned walkers, graduated quickly from casual to challenging mountain walks. I’ve led walks in the Lake District and Snowdonia and arranged club holidays in Tuscany and the Dolomites. A friendly and inclusive club, I coordinate the Higher Grade walks and look forward to welcoming new members to join us.
I love exploring new places at home and abroad and have enjoyed many beautiful walks, great weekends and holidays with the club since I joined in 2013. I also walk many miles with my faithful four legged friend and enjoy the challenge of walking a long distance trail with friends.
Having recently taken on the role of weekend walks co-ordinator I look forward to putting something back into the club.
I have been a member of the club for the last 6 years. I moved down from the north-east and the club has been great for making new friends and for getting me out into the outdoors. I love the challenging walks we organise, plus the social aspects. I now work in IT, having previously been an Engineer. I'm about to retire, so will have more time for walking and golf.

I’m a relative newcomer to Warrington HF Ramblers having only joined in March 2023. Typically I walk on Wednesdays but I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed the weekends away which are well organised in great locations and always in good company.
I retired in 2023 after a thoroughly enjoyable career with a global recruitment business. When I’m not out walking with the club or my energetic pup Maisie I can be found on the garden gate at Dunham Massey where I volunteer as a Garden Steward or working at the Foodbank where I’m also a trustee.
I have loved the mountains since I was a teenager, taking a break when the children were young and I started again 20 years ago. Joining the club 14 years ago gave my walking a real boost and I started doing High Grade walks, leading many of them, along with some evening walks.
The club is always very welcoming and I look forward to organising some socials for us all.
