The Club relies on volunteers to lead walks. We are grateful to all those leaders who do volunteer, but to ensure continuity, we are always on the look-out for new leaders to guarantee we can offer a full programme of walks. For those new to the club, perhaps you have a walk which you might offer?
The Club and the Walk Co-ordinators will be happy to provide full support for new and experienced walk leaders to allow you to safely lead any walk level.
If you are new to leading, please feel free to ask for help, we encourage new leaders to use our more experienced leaders to recce the walk with them. The Walk Co-ordinators will be happy to arrange this for you.
Also, our Charter for Walkers and Leaders clearly sets out responsibilities.
Wednesday walks.- usually around 6-10 miles and no more than 1500 feet in ascent (it is important to get a variety of walks to suit all needs)
Weekend Walks - ordinary walks alternate weekends on either a Saturday or Sunday - usually between 10 or 12 miles and no more than 2000 ft in ascent Plus on alternate weekends, a more challenging walk, 12 miles or more and above 2000ft of ascent.
(Please note the above are just guidelines to help in planning walks)
Whether a first-time or an experienced Walk Leader, please contact any of the Walk Co-ordinators to let them know you are willing to lead a walk for the club. Exchange your email and phone numbers so that they can liaise with you to plan support and get you to contribute towards the walk programmes.
